Circuit Central Smart Traffic Management Kit (ESP32)
Build a four-way junction with density-based signal timing. IR sensors count vehicles on each road, the ESP32 adjusts green time automatically, and countdown displays show drivers how long is left. Wi-Fi lets you monitor the junction from a phone dashboard.
The kit is built around the ESP32 DevKit V1 and every part is chosen to work together, so students can start building on day one. All projects are programmed using the Arduino IDE (MicroPython also supported on the ESP32).
What's Included in the Kit
- 1 x ESP32 DevKit V1 (38-pin, dual-core, Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, 3.3V logic)
- 1 x USB cable (Micro-B) (For programming and power)
- 1 x MB-102 breadboard (830-point)
- 1 x Jumper wires Male to Male (40 pcs)
- 1 x Jumper wires Male to Female (40 pcs)
- 1 x Jumper wires Female to Female (40 pcs)
- 1 x Resistor pack (220Ω, 1kΩ, 2.2kΩ, 10kΩ (10 each); includes divider values for 5V sensor outputs)
- 1 x Project storage box (Reusable)
- 4 x Traffic light LED module (Red / Yellow / Green, 3.3V-5V compatible)
- 4 x IR obstacle sensor module (Vehicle detection per lane)
- 2 x TM1637 4-digit 7-segment display (Signal countdown)
- 2 x Push buttons (Pedestrian crossing request)
- 1 x Piezo buzzer (Pedestrian audio cue)
- 1 x 0.96" OLED display (I2C, junction status)
- 1 x LDR light sensor (Night-mode flashing amber)

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this kit suitable for first-year engineering students?
Yes. Start with the first two projects to learn the basics; the later projects are ideal for a team mini-project submission.
Why ESP32 instead of Arduino Uno?
Four traffic modules, four sensors and two displays need many pins, and the ESP32 adds Wi-Fi so the junction can be monitored remotely.
Can I build a two-way junction instead?
Yes. Use two of the four signal modules and two IR sensors; the code scales down directly.
Do I need to solder anything?
No. All modules connect with the included jumper wires and breadboard.
Which software do I use?
All projects are programmed with the Arduino IDE (MicroPython also supported on the ESP32).
