Circuit Central Line Follower & Obstacle Avoidance Robot Kit

Build a two-wheel robot that follows a black line, detects obstacles, and navigates on its own. The kit covers the three classic mobile-robot behaviours taught in engineering labs using one chassis and one Arduino Uno compatible board.

The kit is built around the Arduino Uno R3 compatible board and every part is chosen to work together, so students can start building on day one. All projects are programmed using the Arduino IDE.

What's Included in the Kit

  • 1 x Arduino Uno R3 compatible board (ATmega328P, 5V logic, 16 MHz)
  • 1 x USB cable (A to B) (For programming and power)
  • 1 x MB-102 breadboard (830-point)
  • 1 x Jumper wires Male to Male (40 pcs)
  • 1 x Jumper wires Male to Female (40 pcs)
  • 1 x Resistor pack (220Ω, 1kΩ, 2.2kΩ, 10kΩ (10 each))
  • 1 x Project storage box (Reusable)
  • 1 x 2WD robot chassis kit (2 x BO geared motors, 2 wheels, caster, acrylic base)
  • 1 x L298N dual motor driver (2-channel H-bridge)
  • 1 x HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor (2 cm to 400 cm range)
  • 1 x SG90 servo motor (For ultrasonic scanning)
  • 1 x Ultrasonic sensor mounting bracket (HC-SR04 to SG90 mount)
  • 2 x IR obstacle sensor module (Adjustable range, digital out)
  • 1 x 3-channel TCRT5000 line tracking module (Digital outputs for left / centre / right)
  • 1 x Piezo buzzer (Active, 5V)
  • 1 x 18650 battery holder (2-cell, with leads (cells sourced locally, not included))
  • 1 x SPDT rocker switch (Battery on/off)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this kit suitable for first-year engineering students?
Yes. No prior electronics experience is needed; the projects start simple and build up step by step.

Are batteries included?
No. The kit includes a 2-cell 18650 holder; 18650 cells are sourced locally because of courier restrictions on lithium cells.

Can this robot follow a line and avoid obstacles at the same time?
Yes. The 3-channel line sensor and the front ultrasonic sensor run together, so one sketch can combine both behaviours.

Do I need to solder anything?
No. All modules connect with the included jumper wires and breadboard.

Which software do I use?
All projects are programmed with the Arduino IDE.
